To perform scanning operations, OC Scanner requires scan files created with OC Configurator. A scan file is an SQLite database file that contains encrypted information about:
- Target machines (the IP addresses, domains, and credentials)
- Access parameters for hypervisors (VMware, Nutanix, Hyper-V, OpenStack)
- Other configuration details
All scan files are encrypted with a symmetric built-in key. OC Scanner decrypts the information, reads it, and then starts the scan. Scan file configuration is in detail described in the OC Configurator document.
The OC Scanner application .exe-File is always deployed with its related scan file.
