The recommended way to uninstall OC Scanner and its related scanned data in the OC Reporter web application is to start the console, go to the folder where OC Scanner is placed, and execute the following command line: InventoryScan.exe -uninstall.
OC Scanner will start then the uninstall process. Following steps are done during the uninstall process:
- OC Scanner will try to delete its scheduled task.
- All OC scanner files (OC scanner, configurator, configurator.settings, Inventory.db, config.ini, scan files, logs, and report files) will be deleted in the folder where OC Scanner is placed.
- OC Reporter will be notified that OC Scanner was deleted.
NOTE: If the process is unable to delete the scheduled task of OC Scanner, the files will not be deleted, and OC Scanner will send a Scan Alert to OC Reporter with the message: ”Unable to delete scheduled task octopus_cloud_scanner_task. Uninstalling the scanner is not complete.” or “Unable to delete scheduled task octopus_cloud_scanner_system_account_task. Uninstalling the scanner is not complete.”
If OC Scanner deleted the scheduled task successfully, and it was unable to send the alert to OC Reporter (connection failure or config file is missing), all related files in the OC Scanner folder will be deleted anyway.
