General
- This issue is typically present if the Windows server that is in the current scan scope is currently offline/not available, or the communication to it is completely blocked.
- If the server is decommissioned, check the AD Domain tree, and disable/remove its AD computer object, and the error will disappear automatically on the next scan.
- If the server is in production/active, but the error is still present, make sure to open the appropriate network connectivity, as described at the start of this document.
Scan Alert is not appearing
There are two scenarios for servers that are not available for some reason (either decommissioned or completely blocked for network access):
- If there is an AD object for a server, and if there is a DNS record for it, but the server is not reachable at all, this server will generate a request timed out an alert.
- If there is an AD object for a server, but there is no DNS record, such a server will not generate a request timed out alert.
